Tempra Board is a professional grant writer and development consultant specializing in grant proposal writing, publication design, and donor development for environmental and conservation organizations, arts groups, and health and human service agencies. She holds a Master's degree in Communication Development from Colorado State University and a Bachelor's degree in English from Humboldt State University. Tempra has 22 years of resource development experience, including as Development Director of small and mid-sized nonprofits, including Trees, Water & People in Colorado, the Environmental Protection Information Center in northern California, and the statewide California State Rural Health Association.
Tempra never tires of exploring and working to protect the natural world and its human and animal inhabitants. She lives in The Sea Ranch, California with her husband, David, and a fluffy yellow dog. When not grant writing or creative writing, she can often be found on a beach or a tennis court. She is also a published creative writer and maintains a blog called TempraSays.
Justina Johnson graduated from California State University, Chico with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and a Certificate in Literary Editing and Publishing. During her senior year at Chico State, she was the student director of the Environmental Action and Resource Center, where she managed the environmental library and facilitated educational events. She also worked as an editorial assistant for Flume Press and Watershed Literary Magazine at Chico State. In the Spring of 2010, Justina completed an internship at Gary Bess Associates. Since then, her background in writing and editing has driven a career in grant-writing and non-profit fundraising. She has been a part of Tempra Board and Associates since 2010, while also serving in management and development roles at non-profit organizations in California, Oregon, and New York.
Justina served as Board Treasurer at Voz Workers' Rights Education Project, and is the Development Manager at Parrott Creek Child and Family Services.
Justina is passionate about social justice and environmental issues, and she loves reading, baking, and going on outdoor adventures with her family. Justina lives in New York with her husband and two children.
